York Regional Police have charged Troy Ling, 28, from Newmarket, with assault, forcible confinement and two counts of breach of probation, following an incident at the Driftwood Motel, located at 20963 Dalton Rd, in Sutton on August 30.
YRP were called to the motel shortly before 6 a.m. for a report of an assault.
“Investigators learned a 24-year-old female had been assaulted. There was also an indication that the suspect may be armed with a firearm. With the assistance of officers from the Emergency Response Unit, a warrant was executed at the motel, but the suspect was not located in the room,” said Const. Laura Nicolle, Media Relations Officer, YRP, in an email to The Post.
“A warrant was issued for the suspect and on Monday, August 31, 2020, he was located and taken into custody. He is now facing several charges.”
