History comes to life on Saturday, February 15, at the Georgina Military Museum with Winter in the Trenches.
Feel the bitter cold as troops march through the snow, just as they did on the battlefields, and experience what winter was like for soldiers in the trenches through historical reenactments and interactive displays.
After the battle, meet the people re-enacting these events, and hear their stories.
Georgina Military Museum President Jeff Leggett says, “No video game can match the impact of seeing these battles unfold in person. It’s a powerful way to understand what past generations went through.”
Visitors will not only feel what it was like to battle in the freezing cold but also explore authentic military artifacts from private collectors, with some available for purchase.

There will also be survival demonstrations where you can learn how to create snowshoes for winter survival.
Kids can enjoy crafts, history buffs can tour the museum grounds, and everyone can experience the thunder of history with thrilling cannons firing throughout the day.
The community is pitching in to make the event accessible: STERLING TIRE is providing free parking and Keswick Taxi is offering complimentary rides from the parking lot to the museum.
Funds raised will support the museum’s growth—because keeping history alive needs the participation of all of us.
Winter in the Trenches, Saturday, February 15, 10am to 2pm at The Georgina Military Museum, located at 26061 Woodbine Ave in Keswick. Admission $10. For more information, visit www.georginamilitarymuseum.ca.
