The Health Hut was at risk of closing before Emily Klotz stepped in and took it over from former owner Aggie Marche, who operated the business since 1999 and was considering retirement.
“I bought the business 4 years ago, right at the end of Covid. It was a little risky, but I knew there was a strong demand for a holistic health store in Georgina,” said Klotz.
Klotz also knew she could grow the business, eventually opening her new location at 920 Lake Drive East.
“I wanted to stay in Jackson’s Point and this space was sitting empty,” she said. “Customers love the new space. It’s open. It’s bright. They find it easy to browse and see more of my products.”
Klotz, who’s worked in healthcare for 18 years, started her journey into holistic health after the birth of her son. “Working in that environment has really shown me that I would prefer going all natural,” she said.

The Health Hut offers organic naturally sourced vitamins and probiotics, organic teas, essential oils, locally sourced honey, skin and body care. It also offers a variety of wellness services such as massage, reflexology, bowen therapy, and energy healing.
Klotz says she doesn’t take a paycheque, every cent she makes is reinvested in the business.
“The town’s growing, so I needed to step up my game,” she said. “I’ve just been working really hard, so I can grow with the town.”
Klotz says holistic and homeopathic remedies are often overlooked and not given the same credibility or recognition as Western medicine, however, many people around the world rely on them for health and wellness. The key is to stick with them.
“I think that people think it’s a quick fix when it comes to natural,” she explained. “But you have to be consistent with it because it doesn’t have all those fast acting chemicals. It’s working with your body,” Klotz said. Klotz prides herself on a warm and welcoming atmosphere, in contrast to the warehouse feel of big box stores.
“You’re more than just a customer here. You’re part of a team,” she said. “I’m just looking forward to getting people healthy in a natural way.”
