Effective immediately, residents born in 1951 or earlier can book second-dose appointments
Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is continuing to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to eligible residents as quickly as possible.
Effective immediately, eligible York Region residents 70 years of age (born in 1951 and earlier) who already have a second dose appointment booked now have the option to re-book an earlier appointment. New appointments can be booked online or by phone by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine
Eligible residents 70 years of age (born in 1951 and earlier) who do not yet have a second dose appointment can also book an online appointment.
Previously booked second-dose appointments will be honoured and will not be cancelled unless a new and earlier appointment is confirmed.
Residents 70 years of age and older who are not able or comfortable booking an online appointment are encouraged to seek out a support person (caregiver, family member or friend) who can assist in booking this appointment on their behalf. Telephone support is also available and is listed under the applicable clinic.
Second doses will continue to be administered to other eligible individuals as directed by the province.
While the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is very effective at preventing COVID-19 infection, serious illness, hospitalization and death, a second dose is still required to provide optimal and longer-lasting protection.
It remains critically important for all those who have not received a first dose to get one. Individuals who are 12 years of age and older who live, work or go to school in York Region who have not yet received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to do so.
York Region Public Health is working with our local health care partners to provide COVID-19 vaccines at various locations across York Region. Clinic dates and times vary for each location. Please visit york.ca/COVID19Vaccine for specific clinic details.
Appointments are required. Walk-in appointments are not available. Please do not visit a vaccination clinic without an appointment – you will be turned away.
A colour-coded system has been applied to the york.ca/COVID19Vaccine page to help residents easily identify which clinics may have available appointments:
- Red: Appointments Fully Booked
- Orange: Limited Availability
- Green: Now Booking
Given the expected high volume of web activity and telephone support, wait times may be longer than usual and service disruptions on york.ca may occur. Please continue to be patient.
York Region will continue to publicly communicate new online booking opportunities through multiple communication channels, including york.ca, social media and our media and community partners.
To ensure all appointments are available to those who are eligible, we encourage residents to book only one appointment per person and cancel any appointments they do not intend to use.
