The Briars Resort and Spa in Jackson’s Point, with its Victorian gardens and 19th-century buildings, seems an odd place to host a country music festival. But not according to concert promoter Forrest Jones.

He believes it’s the perfect venue for his three-day “Live Laugh Love” music festival, which features more than 20 artists, and runs from September 30 to October 2.

“Lots of people will come from out of town to this wonderful weekend festival at this beautiful historic resort,” he said. “It’s going to be a great event. You’re not going to be packed in like you are at Boots and Hearts, with 50,000 people and you can’t get near the stage.”

“We’re going to have an upscale country music festival, where people can visit The Briar’s restaurant and bar. But we’ll also have food trucks, vendors and a beer garden. And if you purchased a VIP ticket, you’ll be able to come to the Saturday night after-party and bump elbows with the entertainers.”

Jones has been able to sign some big names, like Gord Bamford, who has an extensive fan base in Canada.

“I’m ecstatic with the lineup. For the most part, the performers are all musicians with music on the radio,” he said.

“Gord Bamford is a big-time entertainer, one of the most decorated entertainers in Canadian country music. And so we have him as our headliner on Saturday night.”

“Friday night, we have a band called Tim & The Glory Boys. They’re one of the top trending artists in Canadian country music right now.

And then you end on Friday night with Jason McCoy, from The Road Hammers. He was our headliner at last year’s Country Cares Concert at Blue Mountain Resort and drew 700 people.”

Jones expects more than 2,000 people for Saturday’s lineup, with about 1,000 people attending the Friday and Sunday night concerts.

Like all outdoor festivals, it’s rain or shine. But he’s hopeful the weather gods will be on his side.

General admission is $99 for a day pass, and $179 for a weekend pass. The weekend VIP pass is $229 and includes parking, access to the front of the stage, and admission to the Saturday VIP after-party.
