The Pefferlaw Lions Club First Annual Street Fest was held on Saturday, July 27 and transformed downtown into a fun zone of live music, games, vendors, and tasty eats.

Nearly 1000 residents and 30 vendors enjoyed perfect weather when Pefferlaw Road from Station Road to Main Street was shut to vehicle traffic and filled with tents, games, and non-stop performances.

Pefferlaw Lions Vice President Brian Busby said, “The Pefferlaw Lions Club happily revived a past event (from many years ago) and made it the Pefferlaw Street Fest. The Pefferlaw Lions Club worked closely with the Town of Georgina and the Region to make this great event happen.”

A full roster of bands kept the area rocking from noon till 9:00 pm. Performers included West & Mac, Rough Patch Kids, Johnny Barrows, The Jonestown Gang, Samscratch, Jimmy Deluxe, Easy Street, The Liver Spots, The Ghost Towners, and Mike Chianelli.

A crowd favourite of the day was the Bicycle Parade held at 12:30pm for kids aged 12 and under.

Local resident Jenn Saucier-Berninger was there as a vendor with her Two Pour Gurls resin art and 3D Prints and said, “It was a great turnout for the first year. I enjoyed watching all the kids on their bicycles doing the bike parade! They really got their bikes looking fantastic.”

Ivan and Gail Petrushevsky allowed their property to be turned into a Kids Zone complete with games, bouncy castles, and freezies for all. The Mayor of Georgina Margaret Quirk and Ward 5 Councillor Lee Dale were there for the grand opening, and Dale was even caught enjoying the Kids Zone.

Scot Davidson, MP for York Simcoe said, “What a celebration of summer! I had such a great time walking through the Pefferlaw Lions Club First Annual Street Fest this weekend and catching up with friends and neighbours. Thanks to the Lions who show us all what is possible when a small Canadian town comes together.”
