Turkey Shoot Brewing Co. (TSBC) has had a big year and is looking to close if off with a bang through their many holiday events happening throughout the end of 2024.
Kyle and Jaclyn Stewart, co-owners of TSBC, are getting ready for a busy holiday season; with plans for two Christmas markets, two different craft nights, and their first ever New Years Eve party, after having an award-winning year.
“The markets are on a Friday night which is really fun because it’s kind of like a big party, and people just buy presents for people and drink beer,” she said.
The Christmas markets will be on Friday November 29 and Friday December 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
“It’s a fun spot for people to stop by and socialize, and it’s fun if you want to buy gifts. It’s all local vendors from around town,” she said.
They are also hosting a wreath making night on November 27 at 6:00 p.m. for $50.00, using all natural materials, and a pottery night on November 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for $65.00, using clay to build your own gingerbread house with a removable rooftop.
A returning favourite for the holiday season is their 12 Beers of Christmas, Stewart said.
This is a gift box of 12 specialty beers with a Christmas twist and a surprise item.
“They’re all signature beers that we brew just for the box for people to buy. It’s a really good gift for craft beer enthusiasts and it’s really fun,” she said.
“You start drinking on December 25, that’s when you open it, and then we follow through the 12 days. It’s a fun thing where everyone drinks along and follows on social media.”
Stewart said they will start taking presale orders for the 12 Beers of Christmas soon.
They are also in the midst of planning their first ever New Years Eve party, which Stewart said they are looking forward to.
She said they also still run their regular weekly events, like trivia on Thursdays, and open darts on Sundays and Wednesdays.
While Ontario has recently allowed beer to be sold in convenience stores, Stewart said this has not had a major impact on their sales.
“I think craft is pretty particular, so I feel that if they know about us then they’ll probably come to us anyway, because we’re not selling to the convenience stores,” she said.
“Even the LCBO, we love that people go to the LCBO for our Lake Simcoe Lagered Ale, but it’s obviously better for people to come into the brewery and see what else they can get as well, because there’s always a lot more variety.”
This has been a big year for TSBC as this summer they took home a silver award at the Canadian Brewing Awards.
“Kyle won Silver for our Peach Gobbler, we had the second-best sour in all of Canada, which there were over 18,000 applicants, so it’s a pretty big honour,” she said.
“For a pretty small brewery, we’re stoked about it. We haven’t been around that long so to have won one Canadian and two Ontario Brewing Awards, it was pretty awesome.”
In previous years they have won gold in the Ontario Brewing Awards for their Elpida Coffee Blonde Ale, and silver for their Smoked Red Ale.
Stewart said they are always grateful to all the new and returning customers who visit the brewery, and are always open to hearing if they have any ideas for events or beers they would like to see.
“We love seeing new faces, and we appreciate everyone supporting us every single day,” she said.
