Who says ice cream is just for summer? At the newly opened Cutie Pies Dessert and Ice Cream Parlour on High Street in Sutton, ice cream lovers are proving that a sweet tooth knows no season.
Owners Nick and Carrie Lekatis are the former proprietors of the Chicken Station at Jackson’s Point. After a ‘brief retirement,’ they have returned to the world of small-town retail with a delightfully sweet twist. They missed the buzz of running a storefront and decided to channel their passion for desserts into a new venture.
“We’ve always had a sweet tooth,” says Nick, “so why not make a business out of it?”
Cutie Pies offers an impressive selection of desserts and sweets. With 20 flavours of Kawartha Dairy ice cream, homemade cookies, squares, and frozen pies, the store is a one-stop shop for indulgence.
Their chocolate chip cookies and Skor cheesecake have already developed a devoted following, proving irresistible to Georgina’s dessert fans.
One surprise hit for the Lekatis’s has been ice cream cakes. “We didn’t really make them before,” says Carrie, “but they’ve quickly become a favourite part of what we do. There’s no limit to the creations we can make!”
The couple adds, “What surprised us most was how quickly our old customers found us—and how many new faces we’ve met.”
Cutie Pies is also about creating memories. “Our hope is that families will come to the store together and have a fun experience.”
The parlour will, of course, participate in the ‘Whoville on High Street’ event, and be open during the Santa Parade, where they’ll serve up special goodies and a few festive surprises.
Cutie Pies has something for everyone. After all, as Nick puts it, “Why not enjoy a little sweetness all year round?” Stop by Cutie Pies and experience it for yourselves—and don’t forget to try the new ice cream flavour – Reindeer Magic!
