If one of your family has a heart attack, or if your child stops breathing, do you know what to do?
Heaven Can Wait Emergency First Aid Training opened this March at the MURC (Multi-Use Recreation Complex) in Keswick. Public courses are available at the center, or businesses can bring in a trainer.
Georgina resident David Goodman has been operating Heaven Can Wait since 2004, and said, “Complacency and apathy are deadly and I speak from experience. It’s never too late to take control and empower yourself with the knowledge to help save a life.”
He decided to open up training at the MURC because, “Georgina is a growing city and is extremely underserviced. Many of my friends are paramedics in York Region and mentioned this to me.”

All of Heaven Can Wait’s courses are approved by the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and they are currently offering discounts on all of their First Aid and CPR courses.
Goodman is a former Toronto Paramedic and after a bad injury on the job, he retired and founded Heaven Can Wait. He gained national recognition for his skills in 2015 when he brought 77-year-old Sandy Laidlaw back from the dead by administering first aid when he found him on the cold streets of Toronto.
“I was driving home from a meeting and found Sandy dead on the street. I began CPR, when the fire department arrived, I told them I was a former Toronto paramedic,” Goodman said. “I actually ran the entire cardiac arrest and used their AED to shock him. It was an amazing day and thank goodness for the fire department showing up with the AED. Toronto EMS took forever to arrive on scene.”
According to the Consumer Choice Award, Heaven Can Wait is the highest-rated First Aid and CPR company in Ontario with wins in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
