Jennifer Aves did more than just reinvent her life. She wrote a book about it. Key Reset was released this April and gives an honest account of the author’s journey on the road to self-acceptance and joy.

“The biggest inspiration came from within as this book started off with journaling attempting to rid myself of deep seeded sadness. I had an endless calling to want more for myself. Deeper self-love. Deeper self-acceptance. Deeper self-worth. It was through the expression of writing that allowed Key Reset to be born,” Aves said.

Jennifer Aves owns Balance Health Solutions in Sutton which offers massage, reflexology, and reiki. If holistic health interests you, she is also hosting the Free Spirit Fest at ClearWater Farm on Saturday, June 7.

Aves was happy to share her journey from inspiration to publication. “Key Reset was a five-year labour of love. I did the majority of my writing at 5 a.m. then headed off to my fulltime job. It took just under two years writing the initial draft. Then of course came the editing. Rewriting. Editing. Rewriting.”

Pegasus Publishing, a hybrid publishing house in the U.K., picked up Key Reset. Aves said, “During these five years it was a true test of grit and perseverance as I kept at it through some of the most difficult times I have experienced. Riding the roller coaster of life. Completing Key Reset. Ramping up my wellness business to founding and running the Free Spirit Festival.”

When asked her number one piece of advice for others, Aves said, “My advice for anyone wanting to transform their life would be to stay open. Open to making mistakes. Open to evolving. As my mission of Key Reset was not to be perfectly written with perfect grammar and perfect flow. More so to show just how one’s mind is not a clear clean path and often easily derails us. So be open to observing yourself without judgement but with respect, wonder, and love. Love that will open a direct connection within your own spark.”

Aves is originally from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and has spent the last decade living lakeside in Georgina. “Nowadays you can find me on Lake Simcoe cold plunging, embracing my love for paddle boarding, or looking for ways to spread kindness in our community.”
