The North Dance Company (TNDC) is looking to get people up and moving by offering a variety of dance classes to people of all ages.
TNDC is located at 443 The Queensway South in Keswick and they officially opened their doors on September 6.
They held the ribbon cutting on September 23 with a large turnout, including students from the Aurora location coming in droves to show their support, and ended the night with free classes to welcome the community in.
Alex Herrington, owner and director of TNDC, has run the Aurora location since it opened in 2020. She said she decided to open a studio in Keswick after moving into town a year and a half ago.
“I noticed that at the Aurora location we actually had students with Keswick addresses, so once I moved here, we did a little bit of market research, and noticed that there weren’t a lot of options and when I found this location, it was just meant to be,” she said.

TNDC offers classes for mini movers, foundation, ballet, jazz, acro, hip hop, musical theatre, tap, lyrical and contemporary.
“We start at two years old with our program mini movers. That’s a 30 minute a week, low commitment, eight-week session,” Herrington said.
“From 3 to 18 years it’s full season classes. They participate in a year end show at the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Center, they get a fancy costume, and we do a professional photo shoot for every student and a video package.”
They also offer three 1-hour adult classes, all level adult hip hop, beginner ballet, and beginner tap.
TNDC Keswick has two studios with a parent lounge for parents to relax and watch the classes live on screen.
“Both rooms have fully sprung floors, which just give a little give for the dancer’s knees, with Rosco floors on top. Full-Length mirrors, ballet bars, acromats, all the things that you can wish for,” Herrington said.
Herrington said dance can be so important for children’s social and emotional health as they grow and she wants her students to feel safe and at home in the studio.
“The experience that they get on stage is so valuable for their confidence as they grow into young adults, and so we try and package it all into one and give them an experience where they can feel comfortable and confident in a safe environment and continue to grow,” she said.
