What happens When Masterpieces Meet the Runway? Lots of fun, art, dancing, food, and music!
Ewa and Steeve Chowojka-Srawley are hosting a fundraiser for the Good Food Collective on Sunday Nov. 9 beginning at 2:00 pm at The LINK in Sutton.
For more than a decade, Ewa and Steeve have been finding creative ways to blend art, music, and community spirit—all in the name of giving back.
“We’ve been fundraising since 2010, mostly for the Georgina Arts Centre & Gallery. We organized concerts and cultural events to keep the arts in Georgina thriving. Supporting the arts felt like a natural fit, since my background is in music and Ewa’s in fine art,” said Steeve. “After a little break, people kept asking when the ‘fun events’ would return—so we brought them back, this time for different charities.”
First came Georgina Cares, then the Georgina Food Pantry, and now, the Good Food Collective. Their latest upcoming event promises to be fun for a good cause with a playful slideshow showing fashion through the ages, dancing, and even a silent auction.
“We’re encouraging people to come dressed up! Period costume, funky get-up, or just a silly hat. The more fun, the better. Don’t be shy—it’s all for a good cause,” said Ewa.
Entertainment will include mini fashion shows by local designers featuring Denise Magloughlen, Leslie Sedore, Sheila Dobson, and others.
Performances will showcase the global influence of fashion: Niki Patel and her friends will explore Indian dance and attire, Danielle Chen will connect Chinese art with Coco Chanel, and Meghan Bold’s dancers will highlight Scottish style in motion. And yes—there will be surprises.
“Feed the people! Especially with the cost of living these days, the need is huge, ” said Steeve.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the event is the spirit of volunteerism. “Everyone’s a volunteer. Performers give their time and talent, and our team of volunteers work hard behind the scenes,” said Ewa.
