Rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of auto enthusiasts at the Antique Car, Hot Rod, and Custom Classic car show on Monday, August 5.
More than 150 vehicles were on display at the Pefferlaw Lions Park for the day-long event that included a barbeque, music, and prizes.
This car show raised over $10,000 for Make-A-Wish Canada and The Pefferlaw Lions Christmas party for local children.
Nat Van Veen’s grey hand-built 1970 Camaro was the first place winner of The People’s Choice award.
Jeanette Arsenault attended with her 1968 Chevelle and said, “I think it was a great show despite all the rain we had in the morning. Many cars and lots of locals came to enjoy the rest of the day. Fun was had by all!”
The Marshfahrts, a local social club for motorcycles and hot rods, were given a special award for their contribution to the community.
Founding member Jenn Saucier-Berninger said, “The name means cruise velocity in one German dialect. We are a non-profit group that gives our profits to local people in need and charities. We have around 40 members and a number of followers. We enjoy helping our community. Plus we wanted a club that women and men can both be a part of. Most motorcycle groups only allow men. This makes us different from the rest. All are welcome. They just need to have a nice hot rod or motorcycle.”
Dave Vaughn is a member of the Marshfahrts and brought his 1968 Chevelle. He said, “We love to host events with our club and raise money to help out people and organizations in our community that could use a helping hand.”
The next event is The Pefferlaw Lions Cruise for the Car on August 17 starting at 8 a.m. at the Pefferlaw Lions Hall. The proceeds from the cruise will go toward restoring a 1928 Chevrolet for the Lions Club to use in future parades and shows.
