Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section have obtained images and are seeking assistance to locate a person of interest who may have information on a sexual assault that occurred in the Town of Georgina.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, shortly after 10:30 p.m., when a 14-year-old female victim was walking in the area of Metro Road South, in Georgina. She was approached by a male suspect who threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries. The suspect was not known to the victim. He was described as male, white, approximately 30 years of age, unshaven and wearing a black hoodie with a logo, black shorts with a white trim.
Investigators have located video surveillance from an area close to the location of the incident and would like to speak with a person who was seen in the video that may have information that can assist in the investigation.
This person of interest is urged to come forward and speak to investigators.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
If you are the survivor of sexual assault, you can report the incident online if:
- You are not in danger
- The person who assaulted you is not present
- There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred.
- You have access to a private email address, to which the suspect does not have access
