Starting July 16, Georgina residents will be able to request a book or DVD from another library, as interlibrary loans resume at local branches.

But the Georgina Public library (GPL) will be limiting the number of items you can request to three a month, including just a single DVD/Blu-ray disc.

That’s because the library is adopting a different model that relies on a more expensive Canada Post rate, with a limited subsidy from the Ontario government.

The original program was suspended in April, when the provincial government announced 50 per cent funding cuts to the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS) – funded through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

According to a media release from GPL, priority will be given to library patrons who request items that the library does not have in electronic format. Patrons are encouraged to visit the ebooks page for more information on borrowing eBooks and audiobooks.
