RJ Gorman is betting that your Valentine will appreciate a bag of RJ’s World Famous popcorn more than the usual box of chocolates on Feb 14.

He has partnered with Keswick floral designer Erin Buddo, owner of Room to Bloom, (236 Dovedale Dr., Unit 4), to provide her customers with a Valentine’s Day, Date Night Combo, which includes a bouquet of fresh flowers and two individual bags of RJ’s World Famous popcorn for $90.

If your romantic evening is a family affair, you can upgrade to the family bag of popcorn for just five dollars more.

While popcorn may not have the aphrodisiac properties of chocolate,
according to Gorman, it always makes a date night or movie night more memorable.

“To anybody who’s never tried my popcorn, if you like popcorn just try it once, you’ll be happy you did,” he said.

Gorman says he uses coconut oil and the most expensive kernels for his popcorn, which is what makes it the best tasting.

He says they run a blind taste test against three or four competitors two or three times a year and they have never been beaten. Judging is from one to five on things like saltiness, freshness, and crisp flavour.

“Nobody knows which is which until the end, including me. We’ve never lost,” he said.
