Fallon LaPorte, 11, is heading her own Marathon of Hope on September 30 to raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Fallon, a resident of Keswick, was diagnosed with multifocal bone cancer in October 2022.

Her mother, Michelle Sedore-Goodman, said Fallon has been though three surgeries, two attack phases, bone damage, and everything that goes with treatment, including hospital stays. 

Sedore-Goodman said Fallon told her she wants to make sure no one feels like she does and asked to continue what Terry Fox started. 

“No one fights alone. We have to do this together and we hope one day we find a cure,” Fallon said. 

Sedore-Goodman said they have about 20 families walking with them so far.

“We planned for the 30th because we have made a friend through Fallon’s journey named Abby. She just turned six, but just finished a long battle with leukaemia, and two warriors are better than one,” she said.

Fallon set a fundraising goal of $500, which they have already surpassed by $410 so far. 

“Every penny goes directly to the Terry Fox Foundation,” Sedore-Goodman said. 

Team Fallon and Friends will walk 4.5 kilometers, from Jersey Public School, 176 Glenwoods Ave., Keswick, to Georgina Public Library, 90 Wexford Dr., Keswick, on September 30 at 11:00 a.m.
