The Georgina Field to Table Farm tour will be celebrating more than 200 years of local agriculture on Saturday, August 17.
Here is your chance to explore seven local farms and taste-test fresh food, listen to local musicians, and enjoy agri-art! Most self-guided tours begin at 10 a.m., and you can start the day with 10 a.m. yoga at ClearWater Farm.
Jennifer Gidge, Resource Development and Communications Manager from ClearWater Farm said, “We love participating in the Town of Georgina’s Field to Table event each year! It is a celebration of local agriculture, and we are so proud to be a part of this community. This year we will have tours led by our farmers and a delicious tomato tasting! See where your food grows and then taste the difference farm fresh makes. We will also have a stacked farmstand, vendors, music, and family art fun.”
The event is free to attend while purchases are optional. Cristina Lui, Economic Development Officer for the Town of Georgina said, “Every farm has a farmstand and will be selling fresh farm produce and locally made goods. In 2023, the total sales made by Field to Table participating farms were over $27,000.”
There are several new attractions this year including designed picnic areas, leashed pet-friendly locations, and agri-art experiences featuring homegrown artists and musicians. Dragonfly Farm in Keswick is a new participant this year.
Cristina Lui added, “We are celebrating Georgina’s Bee City designation through education about the importance of pollinators to our ecosystem. The Town of Georgina is donating a fruit tree to the Field to Table passport giveaway to help celebrate this designation.”
Other unique offerings include edible flowers and hiveshare honey from Cloverhill Flowers, the Holtrop Farm equipment display, Homestead Orchards wagon rides, plus the Pollard Farm sunflower drive-through.
Zandra Zalucky, a farmer from Elmgrove Farm said, “We have a diverse selection of fresh chemical-free produce, a vendor selling sweet and savory treats, and a reiki master offering reiki sessions for those interested.
