If you are looking for some spooktacular entertainment, The Georgina Post has some ghoulishly great suggestions for you.
Hawkins Street in Sutton is hosting their annual Halloween Haunt for Hunger, and everyone is invited until October 31st to see the frightfully fun displays. This is the 20th year the neighbourhood has decorated the street, and they ask visitors to bring either food or toy donations. A designated monitored bin is also available for those who prefer to give cash.
Last year, more than 850 cars participated. Laurie Pangman-Carriere, the organizer for the event, said, “We donated over 350 hundred items of food to the Food Pantry, plus over 150 food items and a few boxes of toys to local church programs, over eight large boxes of toy donations to Optimist Club and a few boxes/bags cleaning supplies/food to Shades Of Hope.”
Sarah Wolf lives on Hawkins Street and said, “Every year Laurie, Mike, and Crystal give our front yard a spooktacular makeover all in the spirit of scaring up donations for a fang-tastic cause to help the local community!”
Crock A Doodle at 236 Dovedale Drive in Keswick invites parents to pre-register their kids (six years and older) for a Halloween party creating pottery on Friday, October 25th from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. Cost is $30 plus tax.
Auld Castle Farms, a local farm producing honey, produce, and pasture-raised meats at 26280 Park Road also showcases its ghoulish side with farm store decor. Owner Jennifer Aitchison said, “If you call ahead, we can arrange farm tours that discuss the history and what we are doing at the farm currently and future plans. People can check out the chickens and see the hives on the property and the cemetery as part of the history.”
ClearWater Farm at 1614 Metro Road North is hosting a free movie night on Friday, October 25th featuring Hocus Pocus. Bring blankets, pillows, and costumes or PJs!
Older ghouls can find fun on Friday night at The Mansion House in Sutton or Saturday night at The Beach Lakefront Bar and Grill in Keswick. Both venues have live entertainment and costume prizes. Reservations requested.
Port Bolster Hall is open at noon on Sunday for its annual Halloween party and admission is free with a donation for The Food Pantry.
Skiddaw Hotel in Keswick is selling tickets to their Kid’s Spooktacular Halloween Party on Sunday and promises, “spine-tingling magic, games, puppetry, dancing, balloon modeling, and music.”
The Jackson’s Point annual Halloween party begins at noon on Sunday and is a free family event with a non-perishable food donation.
The Sutton Seniors are sponsoring a Harvest Halloween Potluck Party at The Link on Thursday, October 31st. Sign up in advance.
Trunk or Treat is happening on Halloween night at the Salvation Army Georgina Community Church in Jackson’s Point and is “a safe and exciting place to collect treats, play games, and win prizes!”
And the Optimist Club of Keswick is holding their 4th annual Trunk or Treat at S&B Keswick Motors on Saturday.
