When flames consumed Sushi Park in Uxbridge on September 21, 2022, owners Bud and Cindy Park watched their dreams go up in smoke. The devastating fire destroyed several businesses on Brock Street, leaving the couple to rebuild from nothing.

Durham Region’s loss is Georgina’s gain. After regrouping, the couple opened Bud’s Sushi in Pefferlaw on Hwy 48 at the northeast corner of Woodfield Drive on April 25. The restaurant’s interior features just a few tables and caters primarily to takeout business, with a clean, well-lit, and open kitchen where customers can watch their meals being prepared.

Bud Park said, “It was a very tough two and a half years before we found our new location. Now, we’ve met so many nice people who have welcomed us with warm hearts and support. I’m really enjoying making fresh food for the community.”

Bud’s Sushi has already attracted loyal regulars. Sheena Anderson and Sheramie Kovacs, both from Pefferlaw, have become frequent visitors.

Anderson, who loves the sashimi and miso soup, said, “I’m addicted. I go to town with the soy sauce and wasabi. It’s so good.”

Kovacs said, “This is my second time here, and I’m learning how to use chopsticks.”

The menu showcases both classic favorites and new creations at affordable prices. California hand rolls can be purchased for as little as $5. Green Dragon rolls run $12, and the most expensive single item on the menu is the Fantastic Lobster roll, priced at $20. Full meals include bento boxes, sushi, and sashimi combo sets, as well as traditional Korean dishes such as bibimbap and bulgogi.

Georgina’s enthusiasm is evident on social media. A Facebook post on the Connecting in Pefferlaw page drew fifty comments from excited locals.

Megan Hampson Keith posted, “Omg sushi in Pefferlaw! This is a dream come true.”

Scott MacEachern said, “Can confirm it is amazing!”
