Calling all cornhole players, on the weekend of July 25 to 27 the Georgina Cornhole League are hosting the annual Ontario Cornhole Association Provincial Championships at the Georgina Ice Palace.
The Provincial Championships will hold events throughout the weekend such as Women’s Singles, Senior Singles, Open Split Switcholio, Open Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Open Singles, and Juniors Switcholio.
“This year we were awarded the Provincial tournament, so this coming weekend our league will be hosting the tournament at the Ice Palace and we’re expecting anywhere from 100 to 150 players to attend from across Ontario,” Nick Hellier, Georgina Cornhole League President, said.
Hellier said anyone can drop in and register, while some events you’ll need to qualify for there are other social events anyone can join.
The tournament starts Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. with events throughout the evening, Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with events all day and night, and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. with events into the afternoon.
“If anyone is interested in checking out the competitive side of cornhole they’re more than welcome to stop by [the tournament] to have a look and see how things are running, and maybe give it a shot,” Hellier said.

The Georgina Cornhole League started in 2022 and has grown over the past three years.
“It’s been fantastic, we started our league with 10 players coming out every week,” Hellier said.
“Now there are between 30 to 35 players a week. This season, we’ve had 100 players drop in and play at least one league night over the course of the year from September till now.”
The new season will start in September, with games every Monday night.
To join the league, it is $120.00 for the 11-week season, or $15 a week for drop in players.
“It’s open for all ages, all genders, all skill levels, everybody is welcome,” Hellier said.
“It’s one of the nice things about cornhole, there’s no advantage to being male, female, 8 years old, 30 years old, 50 years old, there’s zero advantage, as long as you can throw the bean bag from one board to the other. It’s just a matter of fine tuning your skills from there.”
Registration is still open at www.ontariocornholeassociation.com. For more information and to keep up with the league, you can visit the Georgina Cornhole League’s social media pages.
