On July 16, Council approved funding for the construction of the Queensway North Trail Project, a new section of walking trail behind Keswick Gardens Senior Apartments.
This section of trail will form part of an east-west trail that connects the proposed Starlish Park, part of the Treasure Hill development, to Lakeside Park and the Medina Square residential neighbourhood.
The completion date is expected to be Fall 2020, or Spring 2021.
While the cost is $140,000, the funding comes from a “voluntary contribution” of $150,000, provided by Starlish Home Corp, the developer behind Treasure Hill.
According to Ken McApline, the Town’s parks manager, residents of Keswick Gardens, an assisted-living facility, are delighted with the new trail, which will provide easy pedestrian access to nearby parks.

This is really exciting times for Georgina. Ken McAlpine presented the project to council today. This is an excellent example of town staff coming together to produce excellent results on behalf of the residents of Georgiana. The best part of the project is there was no contribution necessary by the residents of the town. Money was already set aside by Starlish Home Corp. as part of their “voluntary contribution” waiting for the project to move forward.
