AURORA, Ont. — Police say they’ve taken down two crime rings that allegedly distributed illicit drugs throughout Ontario.
York Regional Police say in one investigation, an Asian crime group manipulated the medicinal marijuana licensing system.
They allege the groups ran a sophisticated operation that included several large pot farms in the province.
Police say the group used marijuana sales to fund the manufacture of methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana resin and mushrooms.
The second probe focused on a home in Vaughan, Ont., and led to a large seizure of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Police say they have charged more than 50 people.
