The annual Georgina Cares Fund Auction returns November 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Rogers TV with around $70,000 worth of items up for grabs.

The Georgina Cares Fund is a non-profit organization that provides funding for local children, up to the age of 15, to take part in extracurricular activities, like joining sports teams or after-school clubs.

They also offer the Compassion Fund, which is a one time payment to help families who have experienced an unforeseen or catastrophic occurrence, like a house fire or medical emergency.

This year the annual auction is returning to its pre-COVID state, after having to be cancelled in 2020 and condensed in size and time in 2021, due to COVID-19.

“We’ve got some fabulous items in the auction,” Rob Grossi, founder and president of The Georgina Cares Fund, said.

“We have a lot of tickets for events, from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Raptors, we have golf passes for golf courses, and we’ve got a lot of items that have been donated by local merchants, everything from mattresses to a beautiful live edge table worth $2,500.”

Grossi said the auction is possible in part due to the generosity of the businesspeople in Georgina, especially with what they have gone through over the last couple years with the pandemic, who come back year after year to help with the Georgina Cares mission.

On the day of the auction, you can tune into Rogers TV and call (905) 535-3310 to place your bids.

Many of the items that will be up for auction can be viewed on The Georgina Cares Fund Facebook page and more information can be found on www.georginacares.ca.
