You may have seen them around Keswick, Sutton, Pefferlaw, Newmarket, or Bradford. Recognizable by their colourful hats, whimsical brooms, and costumes, The Keswitches have become a local favourite.

The group began in October 2020 when neighbors saw that kids would be missing out on trick-or-treating due to the pandemic. One of The Keswitches founding members, Lucy Loren, helped to make the magic happen.

“We went to different places waving to people and kids started coming out to the windows and doors and waving back.” Said Loren. “It felt really fun.”

As community support grew, so did invitations to events like Fright Night, Whoville on High, Georgina and York Pride, and Trunk or Treat, where they won first place in 2023.

As a non-profit, all donations and honorariums that The Keswitches receive go back into supporting local charities such as the Georgina Feral Cat Committee, Shades of Hope, and Holiday Heroes.

“We don’t pocket anything.” Said Loren.

Despite misconceptions that a witch can only be a witch during Halloween, The Keswitches continue to support all seasons by showing up in their colourful costumes and bling.

“All events, all of everything. We’re not just a Halloween bunch.” Said Loren.

With exciting projects in the works such as a cookbook and an official Keswitches calendar, The Keswitches work hard to stay a one of a kind group that gets to call Georgina home.

Join The Keswitches for their upcoming broom making workshop on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at The Sutton West Legion. All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to AARG Animal Rescue and Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge.
