There is still time to catch the Queensville Players’ production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on stage at the Stephen Leacock Theatre in Keswick, with performances running from April 27 to 30.

This show has been a wonderful experience for the group following the tragic loss of three of our cast members from High School Musical – Jon, Stefphanie and their son Riddick – who were killed in a head-on collision near Peterborough this past November.

The group has dedicated this show to the MacHarts, and especially their daughter Rowghan, who survived the crash with life-altering injuries.

Rehearsals for this show began in January at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in Newmarket. Since then, the group has rehearsed three times a week (3-4 hours each time) and has created a set built entirely by volunteers.

QP cast of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

The set painting is breathtakingly beautiful and represents the collective efforts of several cast members and over 100 hours of work. Our talented cast members and families also created most of the costumes.

Community theatre is about working together toward a common goal and building a chosen family. This is absolutely true of this incredible cast. They have formed a palpable bond and have become a family. This is evident from the moment the show begins and well after the last guest has left the building.

The cast of Beauty and the Beast has received standing ovations after each performance and has stuck around to delight children and adults alike with photo opportunities. Many of the children have attended in costume to appear with their favourite characters.

Tickets are still on sale for the final weekend of April 27, 28, 29, and 30th. Prices are as follows: adults $25, seniors and students $19, and children 12 and under $12. Tickets are available at: http://queensvilleplayers.ca/

This show will win you over and leave you wanting to see it all over again. Don’t miss your chance to see this tale as old as time!
