The Town of Georgina is closing facilities and cancelling its March Break programing as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, according to a media release issued at 4.45 p.m. on March 13.

“The Town is working closely with the York Region Public Health unit and N6 municipal counterparts monitoring the global situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. The risk to York Region residents of COVID-19 remains low,” the release states.

“The health and safety of our staff and residents is the Town’s top priority. As such, the Town is taking precautionary measures regarding facilities and programs,” says Mayor Margaret Quirk.

All March Break camps and programs for next week have been cancelled, with refunds processed “as soon as possible.”

Tonight’s performance of “The Neil Diamond Story” at the Stephen Leacock Theatre is also cancelled. Ticket holders are being contacted.

And, the Link Winter Market has been cancelled for the rest of the season.
