Eligible York Region residents can book appointments beginning Saturday, April 3, 2021
Newmarket – AstraZeneca vaccination appointments are now available in select York Region pharmacies for residents 55 years of age and older (born in 1966 or earlier).
York Region will receive approximately 58,000 vaccines from the province, allocated to 37 pharmacies in York Region. A list of participating pharmacies and appointment booking information is available at ontario.ca/pharmacycovidvaccine
Eligible York Region residents can book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccination by visiting the select pharmacy website or calling the pharmacies directly.
The expansion of the vaccination program into pharmacies will expedite vaccine availability and bring vaccine protection to more residents. With increased transmission of variants of concern in our communities, all residents 55 years of age and older are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
The BEST vaccine is the FIRST one offered to you. Everyone is encouraged to take whichever vaccine is available to them as soon as possible. The AstraZeneca vaccine provides substantial and sustained protection from the serious consequences of COVID-19, approximately 14 days after the first dose.
AstraZeneca has been approved by Health Canada and is recommended for residents 55 years of age and older by the National Advisory Committee on Immunizations (NACI). All approved vaccines in Canada are effective at preventing severe disease, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
Appointments are required. Walk-in appointments are not available. Please do not visit a pharmacy for a vaccine without an appointment – you will be turned away.
As vaccine supply increases, York Region will offer additional appointments to eligible priority groups. York Region will publicly communicate new online booking opportunities through multiple communication channels, including york.ca, social media and our media and community partners.
To ensure all appointments are available to those who are eligible, we encourage residents to book only one appointment per person and cancel any appointments they do not intend to use.
