Bahar Fine Foods is a grocery store and Persian-Afghan diner catering to Georgina’s growing appetite for diverse and authentic flavours.
Owners Ali and Sweeta opened their first grocery store in the Keswick Plaza on Simcoe Ave, but when an opportunity presented itself to take over a larger storefront with more parking at 591 The Queensway S, the husband and wife team jumped at the chance.
“Before this new location, we operated a small grocery store nearby. But, with Georgina’s growing appetite for cultural food, we were on the constant look-out for a new place,” Ali said.
“The expansion was not easy. Months of strenuous planning and renovation went into the transformation of this new location.”
But that hard-work has paid off.
Step inside Bahar Fine Foods and you’ll find yourself immersed in shelves of imported goods: Turkish delights, delectable snacks, unique herbs and spices as well as fresh cuts of halal meat from local suppliers.
As you make your way to the left, you will enter the culinary side of Bahar Fine Foods, where customers can indulge in the unique flavours of Persian and Afghan cuisine.
“The essence of our cuisine lies in the balance of savoury, sweet, tangy, and spicy elements. Saffron, fragrant herbs, aromatic spices, and fruits such as barberries are used to create a delicious balanced flavour profile” Sweeta said.
With a great passion for cooking and a desire to foster community through the medium of food, owners Sweeta and Ali have created a menu for everyone.
“We wholeheartedly accommodate all dietary preferences. Apart from chicken, veal, and lamb protein options, we offer an array of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes to cater the needs of every guest,” she said.
From great portion sizes of fresh grilled kabobs to hearty soups, every dish tells a story of tradition and passion.
Whether you’re in search of rare spices to elevate your home cooking or simply craving a taste of something new, Bahar Fine Foods invites you to enjoy a meal in a relaxed dine-in setting or order take-out and enjoy its culinary delights from the comfort of your own home.
