The 167th running of The Sutton Fair & Horse Show kicks off August 8 –11 at the Sutton Fairgrounds. Grab your popcorn and candy apples!
New this year, there will be Mini Chuckwagon Races, Bird of Prey demonstrations, and the high energy fiddling and dancing act put on by The Fitzgeralds.
If art is more your speed, this is the first time Northern Rhodes Artistry in Wood Carving will be doing on-site creations.
Does your family love the exciting display of canine agility put on by the Global Pet Foods Superdogs show? That happens Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Other crowd favourites like the Truck and Tractor Pull, Demolition Derby, and Horse Pulls are also back.
For the younger attendees (or young at heart) there’s the Kid’s Foam Party, Zoo to You, Balloon Twisting, Frog Jumping contest, Kid’s Fun Tent, and the Spelling Bee by Friends of the Library. Of course, the midway will be providing the usual thrills.
The theme this year is From Wagon Wheels to Ferris Wheels and Victoria Pike, Advertising Chairperson said, “Sutton Fair & Horse Show has roots that go back to 1855. The wagon wheel portion of the theme connects to our heritage and the Ferris wheel connects to the more modern component of our fair.”
Pike said, “Personally, my favourite is the Homecraft Exhibits and entering your creations whether it be flowers, canning, needlework, photography, field crops, vegetables, crafts, quilting, antiques or any of the other categories! On Thursday morning, when the Fair opens at noon, I love going in to see how you did each year. I entered many items as a child and still do as an adult. Now, I love seeing my own children go into the Fair and see how they did on their creations.”
Midway Ride All-Day passes and discounted admission passes can be purchased up till August 7 at Sutton Home Hardware and Keswick Home Hardware. Its $46 per ride pass and $10 admission if you purchase in advance.
