For those who can’t wait for the end of September to enjoy the 2026 Georgina Studio Tour, the Art Gallery of Georgina (AGG) is hosting the first-ever pop-up shop and preview at 149 High Street.

Samples of original local art are on display at the AGG till Sept. 6 with some of the artists on site to answer questions. Visitors can see paintings, sculpture, pottery, fibre arts and more.

Pearl McLean, the AGG’s marketing assistant, said, “The Art Gallery of Georgina is thrilled to assist The Georgina Studio Tour with their first-ever pop-up. The Studio Tour is a great opportunity to connect with local artists, discover their work, and celebrate all the creativity we have right here in Georgina!”

The Georgina Studio Tour event takes place on Sept. 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is a self-guided opportunity to explore Georgina while discovering the work of local artists.

Participants can meet the artists in their studios and learn about their creative processes. New this year, Kristan Webster of Sutton creates mixed-media pieces. Some of her art uses encaustic techniques, which are known as hot wax painting.

This is also Bonnie Lemaire’s first time joining the tour. The Willow Beach artist is a narrative illustrator and combines traditional drawing, painting and digital media to create whimsical, story-driven imagery.

Barbara Banfield of Jackson’s Point is a participating artist and found her love of working with clay at the Haliburton School of Art + Design.

“I am a strong believer in pottery that celebrates daily life serving, receiving and the sharing of food and drink. I enjoy creating groupings of vessels that create a dialogue, both functional and sculptural. I am fascinated with process, shape, colour and texture, drawing inspiration from the world that surrounds me, both natural and architectural,” said Banfield.

Susan Day is no stranger to the tour and has been quilting for 20 years. Day creates quilts, wall hangings, tote bags and decorative cushions.

“I’m never one to follow rules,” said Day.

The Georgina Studio Tour is celebrating its 32nd year and promises that this is a “must-attend event for anyone who loves art, nature, and adventure.”
