Fall…a favourite of the four seasons for many. It is revered for its colourful expression of change and its fresh and crisp bounty of harvested produce. And now, after a two year hiatus, Harvestfest at the Georgina Pioneer Village is back to celebrate nature’s rich legacy on Saturday, September 17 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Harvestfest 2022 is sponsored by the Georgina Historical Society (GHS) and welcomes residents and visitors alike to enjoy the sights and sounds of the fall season while enjoying an atmosphere of bygone days and treasured Georgina history.
Local craft vendors and farm fresh produce will be available throughout the village and a fine selection of local talent will provide a backdrop of music and familiar songs all day long. You can bring the kids to the free fish pond, watch them win a prize and then wander through a select collection of antique cars that will capture the nostalgic interests of young and old alike.
You will want to take some time to browse through the 17 heritage buildings at the Village that have been carefully curated to preserve the authenticity of early Georgina pioneers. Drop by the Noble House, the home and office of a Sutton doctor and take in the treasured memorabilia that chronicles the life and times of James Anderson, one of Georgina’s most celebrate personalities. And don’t forget to visit the train station and our newly renovated 1918 caboose–a reconditioned example of a forgotten era on the rails.
The volunteers of the Georgina Historical Society have also invited food vendors to the event to provide food and refreshments throughout the day. So grab some lunch, a picnic table and relax with your neighbours by the band shell. It is a great spot to enjoy some old time music and let your mind wander down memory lane.
