A new e-bike rental service is set up at the Ramada Inn in Jackson’s Point and hopes to give tourists and locals a fun way to explore Georgina.
Lake Drive LOOP soft launched Saturday, May 30, with 10 brand-new bikes and offers free resort delivery, Airbnb delivery, and pickup at the Ramada Inn.
Two types of e-bikes are available for rent. The EMMO Mini Pro rents for $17 an hour, while the two-seater EMMO Paralo Pro rents for $21 an hour. Riders must be at least 18 years old, use a credit card and present government-issued ID.
Owner Mani Duhra is an engineer from Sutton who created and designed the Lake Drive LOOP app himself. It took him four months to create the app and he hopes his business venture will be a positive addition to the area.
Duhra said, “I noticed many of my friends who came to visit found it difficult to explore the beach and Lake Drive because of the cost and availability of parking. This triggered an idea, what if they could explore the area by e-bike?”
The app includes several mapped bike route suggestions that include a Lake Drive Scenic Loop; the Historic Estates Loop, which runs from The Briars Resort to St. George’s Anglican Church and Sibbald Point Provincial Park; and the Full Loop, a 21-kilometre route.
Originally Duhra was hoping his business would be accepted into The Town of Georgina’s summer “beach vendors” program at De La Salle Park and Willow Beach but his bid wasn’t accepted.
That’s because council directed Town staff at the February 2026 meeting to allow only food vendors at the waterfront parks this summer.
However, despite that setback, Duhra appreciates the support and encouragement he has received from the Town and local business owners.
“The Town has been super helpful in spreading the word through sharing my social media posts,” said Duhra. “Long term I would like to bring a positive impact to the region by helping to promote local businesses, like ice cream shops, stores and restaurants. They could be featured as stops on the maps.”
While Duhra was being interviewed, a couple from Toronto stopped after spotting the Lake Drive LOOP sign at the Ramada Inn. Sophie, one of the visitors, said they had been searching for e-bike rentals near the water.
“We have been looking for e-bike rentals and thought we would have to go all the way to Owen Sound to ride along the beach,” Sophie said as she took a photo of the QR code for the app.
In Ontario, e-bikes are prohibited on sidewalks, but can be used on roads, bike lanes or designated multi-use trails, like the Lake Drive Multi-Use Pathway (MUP).
